Structural Features
  • Valve Stem: The valve stem features a rising-stem design, meaning the threads are exposed on the outside of the valve body. During valve opening and closing, the stem moves up and down as the gate disc raises and lowers. The position of the stem is visually visible, indicating the valve's open or closed state.
  • Disc: The disc is a key valve component, typically wedge-shaped or parallel. It fits tightly against the valve seat, blocking the flow of the medium.

  • Actuation: A common method is handwheel drive, where rotating the handwheel rotates the valve stem, raising and lowering the disc. Other actuation methods include electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic, to meet diverse operating conditions and automation control requirements.
Working Principle

Turning the handwheel or other drive device rotates the valve stem. The threaded structure of the valve stem converts this rotational motion into linear motion, thereby raising or lowering the gate disc. When the gate disc is fully raised, the valve is open, allowing the medium to pass freely. When the gate disc is fully lowered and tightly seated against the valve seat, the valve is closed, blocking the flow of the medium.
